Dr. Sally Ride, the first woman in space, passed away a couple of days ago, and Andrew Sullivan is absolutely right to call her out on hiding in the closet as long as she did. It was very sad-this woman was an icon of feminism. She was also a lesbian. However, she never came out in the media. She did have a 27 year relationship with another woman, but never said anything about it-only her family and close friends knew. I can understand why in some cases-she was in the military during the worst years of the ban on LGBT people in the military, and she was an astronaut in a very racist, sexist and homophobic agency of the government-NASA. However, even though she could not have come out in 1983, what about 1993? or 2003? She could have said something, she could have been an inspiration to younger lesbians like me, but she chose not to. Harvey Milk once said that the closet was our enemy. And it’s STILL our enemy. Sally Ride chose to sit on the sidelines when she could have gotten in the game and changed things sooner. I respect Kristy McNichol even more than I already did for doing what someone like Sally Ride wouldn’t even think of doing. I’m sorry, but coming out in your obituary doesn’t count. Kristy didn’t do that-Sally Ride did.

First off, I’m so glad so many racist bigoted assholes have chosen to move out of California. Good fucking riddance. For the rest of you racist, bigoted assholes still polluting my state, please MOVE. We Californians who aren’t bigoted, racist assholes will be more than glad to see you leave. I’m just SO done with all the fuckheads bitching about this state. Don’t like it? MOVE!

Orange County, California is a bigoted shithole. Anyone who isn’t white, straight and male is not welcome in Orange County. For the life of me, I don’t see why anyone not white, straight or male even attempts to live there. And-I’m not surprised Anaheim has erupted into riots over the illegal shootings of Latino males. I’ve been expecting this for a VERY long time. See, I used to live in Orange County. That’s why I say point blank that OC is a racist, sexist, homophobic shithole. I fucking KNOW how bad it is there for anyone who isn’t white. Throughout the 15 years I was unlucky enough to stay in that shithole, I saw a lot of OC cops harass people who were of another skin color. Asians were OK, but if you’re Black or Latino in OC, you get harassed by the cops. A lot. I had a lot of friends-middle class, law abiding people, mind you-that were harassed. For no reason. And yet, nobody did or said anything in response. They couldn’t. If they had, the harassment would have been worse, and it was the cop’s word against yours. As for the riots, it did my heart good to see the Latinos finally rise up and kick some cracker ass last night. I don’t believe violence solves problems, but the cops in OC have been harassing the Latino population for so long that I was amazed they finally had enough.So, to see the Latinos in Anaheim finally protest their shitty treatment was awesome to witness. For some stupid reason, I stayed in that horrible place for 15 years, and wasn’t able to get out of there until 1996, when I moved to Long Beach. I’ve been in LA County ever since, and LA County is a better place to live, especially if you’re not white, straight and male.
OK, if they were gang members, so what? As long as the gangs behave themselves and cause no problems, they’re pretty much left alone here in LA County. Now, of course they don’t do that, so they do attract police attention. However, you don’t hear of the LAPD or the LA Sheriffs shooting some guy in the back as they are running away from the cops. You don’t hear of the LAPD or LA Sheriffs beating a homeless man to death, like the Fullerton cops. That shit does not happen here. And, that shit shouldn’t happen in OC either.
Frankly, anyone still living in OC who’s not white straight or male would be advised to move out of there. Come to LA County. We’re not gang ridden like the assholes in OC like to tell you. And-you won’t get shot by an OC cop for no damn good reason,either.

OK, the news from the recall elections in Wisconsin last night is frankly, horrible for the Petulant Left. They brought all their heavy hitters to Wisconsin to try to get the vote out. Ed Schultz was there and so was Cenk Ugyur and Jane Hamsher. Even Michael Moore showed up to lend a hand. What happened? The GOP managed to hold on to three seats, the Democrats got two seats, and one seat’s being contested, although the AP called it for the Republican (UPDATE:The Wisconsin Democratic Party has dropped contesting the 8th District election, so the Republican won). So. Two out of four. Of course they’re spinning the results as a “major victory” for the Wisconsin Democrats but we all know the truth. The Petulant Left got it’s collective ass kicked in Wisconsin last night, and for that we should be exceedingly happy.The Wisconsin Democrats DID get two more seats in the Wisconsin legislature that they didn’t have before,so that’s kinda good for the Democrats. And, as the President didn’t waste his time-or the national Democratic Party’s money, time and energy-on recalling six Republicans who will lose their seats in 2012 anyway, the President actually comes away from this with an enhanced reputation, since he’s the one who’s NEVER LOST AN ELECTION unlike the Loony Lefties who have lost SEVERAL.
The Democratic Party relied on those people from 1980 to 1991, and all they did was further Reagan’s kill the middle class policy by getting their asses kicked election after election, both state and national. Why did that happen? Because the PL never grew up. They never became emotional adults. They relied on tactics that didn’t work-even in the anti-Vietnam War protests of the late 1960′s. I’ve been saying for a long time that the Far Left never got beyond the anti-War Movement. And it’s becoming more and more obvious that is the case. We don’t need that in the Democratic Party, especially now. One of the few things Bill Clinton did right was to kick the Petulant Left out of the Democratic Party. Why? BECAUSE THE PETULANT LEFT CAN’T WIN ELECTIONS. They scare too many moderates and Independents off with their frothing at the mouth, angry rhetoric, always talking about how America is this horrible place they’re stuck in. I mean, honestly-would you vote for that? I wouldn’t. It’s not so much the candidates as it is the people BEHIND them saying this nonsense. And it discredits the candidates every single time. That’s why the PL can’t win elections and they need to be kept far, far away from Democrats, just like the far Right needs to be kept far, far away from Republican candidates.
Let’s look at the facts. Was ANYBODY calm and rational on either side during the Wisconsin recall campaign? Everything I saw was “crush the Republicans” or “crush the Tea Party”. There were no calm, rational adults saying “Hey, we need to calm down here and bring down the overheated rhetoric a bit. These people are our friends and neighbors-we need to work with them, not against them.”. It was all rant, rant, rant. Hate, hate, hate. And now? The PL will be ranting even more thanks to their fuckup in Wisconsin. So, last night in Wisconsin was a huge victory for the President-believe it or not. The results show that President Obama’s bipartisan (READ: ADULT) approach works, and the PL’s late ’60′s “burn ‘em out” tactics do not. The PL was shown for the unelectable, immature fools they really are, rather than the “revolutionaries” they like to think of themselves as. Hopefully, the Unions learned their lesson and will now go back to the center-Left coalition that brought them to the table in the first place.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Cenk, Michael Moore and Hamsher threaten to burn Wisconsin down now that the Republican in the contested election was the winner. Frankly, anger and violence is all they’ve got, now since last night’s results showed that votes from moderates and Independent voters mean more than frothing at the mouth tirades about how America needs to follow THEIR lead. Notice how much Huff Poach is talking up the London riots? In my humble opinion, that’s what they want to see happen in Wisconsin, now that this recall crap has failed. Hopefully, cooler heads in Wisconsin will prevail, but they are going to have to get rid of these grifters in their midst. The best thing for the President to do is stay far away from these people, and that’s exactly what he’s doing. Thing is, a wounded animal is the most dangerous one-and make no mistake about it-the Petulant Left is not just wounded-they’ve taken a electoral beating so bad it would land a human being in the ICU. So, they’re very dangerous right now, and the President, I’m sure, knows that.
So, let’s hope things turn out for the best, and that Wisconsin isn’t London. I’m sure it’s not, and cooler heads there will prevail, but I’m really concerned about this mainly because Moore, Hamsher, Schultz and Uygur have to be smarting from the asskicking they and their immature little PL buddies got last night. And you know what? They deserved it. I’m not happy when the Republicans win because their policies hurt real human beings rather than “political ideology”, but just the fact that the PL got it in the shorts last night is not necessarily a bad thing. Is it good for Wisconsin Democrats or the people in Wisconsin in general? Of course not.Like I said, extremist Randian Republican ideology is horrible for the average working folks who are affected by it. But-is it good for the Democratic Party as a whole? Absolutely. The more people like Ed Schultz, Jane Hamsher, Michael Moore, Adam Green and Cenk Ugyur are shown for the frauds they actually ARE and how irrelevant to the average voter they REALLY are, the better for actual, mature, moderate and liberal ADULTS who are Democrats-and especially the President himself.
Well, it happened again. Scott Walker is still Governor of Wisconsin. And the PL are still a bunch of whiny losers. Some things never change, eh? Here’s hoping the Wisconsin Democrats GET THE MESSAGE and kick the PL out, just like the national party did.
And, once again, we lose a very talented person to drug and alcohol addiction. Once again, fame, talent and money mean absolutely nothing when confronted by the demons of addiction. No amount of money, no amount of fame and no amount of talent can defeat addiction. Period, end of sentence. THAT is why the entertainment industry needs to STOP glamorizing drug and alcohol use, as I said when Amy Whinehouse died. Using drugs and drinking are not “sexy”, “cool” or “defiant”. Using drugs and drinking CAN BE DEADLY, especially if you break out in a drunk when you drink or use. And, hanging around with people doing that shit can be just as deadly, if you’re not careful. And Whitney Houston is the ultimate example of this.
Whitney was not supposed to end up like this-drunk, loaded and then dead. She was supposed to be a Streisand type diva, the one who’s respected, and who’s followed by lots of young ladies who want to sing like she did. However, she ended up with a “bad boy” and thought she could “change” him. She didn’t change him-he changed HER.
After she got married to the jerk, she lost all her individuality and became an appendage of Bobby Brown. She admitted that she started using cocaine and smoking marjiuana while she was married to him. Surprised? I’m not. Some women seem to think that by doing what the “bad boy” does, it endears her to him. That’s bullshit. The only thing that does is make that woman look like a fool to the rest of the world. And that’s what happened to Whitney Houston. Instead of retaining her physical and emotional independence, she chose to cling to toxic waste, and that’s exactly what Bobby was at the time. Hell, even he admitted that not long ago. That marriage was the beginning of the end of her career, mainly because she was never her own person. She was always someone else’s. And that’s what helped kill her.
The best thing Whitney ever did was dump Bobby Brown. It’s just too bad she didn’t do it while she still had her voice. Hence, the lesson of Whitney Houston. Whitney is going to be an example to other young women like her-talented and ambitious. When they meet the Bobby Brown type loser, they will think of Whitney Houston and leave those “bad boys” alone-hopefully. If Whitney had told Bobby to jump in the lake instead of marrying him, she would still be alive, still be singing and still be respected. I believe that’s why Bobby Brown started blubbering in Mississipi at his concert tonight-he had a hand in her death, and he fucking knew it. Sure, she was an adult and was stupid enough to go along with it. And, she did have her issues with drugs BEFORE she met Bobby Brown. So, he’s not to blame for all of it. But he IS to blame for some of it. He could have said “Babe, let’s not do this shit anymore. We’re adults now.” But he didn’t.
I hope this turns out to be a lesson for every young women confronted by a jerk like Bobby Brown. Remember what happened to Whitney-and leave his loser ass the fuck alone. You don’t need a relationship worse than you need your own self. RIP, Whitney.

And turned it into the laughingstock of the country. Currently in Iowa, RICK SANTORUM leads with 26%, Ron Paul with 23% and Mitt Romney at 18%. The sanest candidate in the race, Huntsman, is at 3%. If we thought GINGRICH would have been a manna from heaven candidate, Santorum is a fucking GIFT FROM GODDESS. He gets the nomination and he’ll be fucking lucky if he wins Pennsylvania. In fact, I suspect he won’t win even ONE state. As I said before, massacre won’t cover it. It just makes me wonder if the crazies in the Republican Party really WANT Obama to win.
The Democrats could run Barney Frank in 2012, and we’d have our first openly gay President, as Dixie Dove puts it. And they’re right. It’s increasingly pathetic, this GOP primary season. They have NOBODY. Newt? Serial cheater who has taken millions of $$ from Fannie and Freddie? Mitt? Mr. Magic Underpants who has no personal charisma? Besides, he’s done more flip flops on political issues than Nadia Comaneci. The REST of the assembly? Santorum? Let’s remember who’s last name is the name of the more disgusting results of anal sex, thanks to Dan Savage. Bachmann? Sure, if Crazy was a political party. Cain? The Pizza Man? Sorry, still not able. Besides, after all those stories of him sexually harassing women who worked for him, he’s toast. Paul? Mr. Ayn Randian? Please. The last person I listen to when it comes to politics is a pompous ass like Andrew Sullivan-beside, Paul just hates gay and lesbian people less than the others, Andrew. He still hates us. Oh-and Rick Perry basically killed his candidacy with that anti-gay commercial. It’s pretty bad when even the American Family Association is running away from you as fast as they can because they don’t want to be seen with a virulent anti-LGBT bigot like Rick Perry.

The Patriot Freedom Alliance, which is based in Hutchinson, Kansas, posted a photo of a skunk on its homepage, stating it had replaced the eagle as a symbol of the president because “it is half black, half white and almost everything it does stinks.”
The image appeared on the group’s website on Saturday but was gone on Sunday, said Darrell Pope, president of the Hutchinson chapter of the NAACP. It was also not on the site Monday, the day after an article about it appeared in the Hutchinson News-Leader newspaper.
“They tried to pass it off as satire, but it was hurtful and malicious,” Pope said on Monday. He said the depiction was racist in its reference to Obama, who was born to a white mother and black father.
Pope said he did not contact the group about removing the skunk, but said it never should have been posted in the first place.
Gee, ya think? These guys are inching closer and closer to the actual word. Watch, sometime in 2012, some dumbass on the Far Left or the Far Right will be using that dreaded N word. And then losing whatever credibility they still had. Just watch.
I’m sorry I haven’t posted that much-school is kicking my butt. The GOOD news is that I’m getting a straight B average in all my classes. However, I’m very glad things are now looking up for the President. Speaking of that-WHEN are the Republicans going to stop underestimating this guy? In the last two days, Moamar Gaddafi, the murder of American college students in Lockerbie, Scotland and all-purpose asshole is dead, and the War in Iraq is FINALLY over and our troops will be coming home before the holidays. And boy, are they depressed. Jon Stewart ripped them a new asshole, and here’s some of what he said-he’s in rare form these days:
“Is there no republican who can be gracious and statesmanlike like in this situation? We removed a dictator in six months, losing no American soldiers, spending, like, a billion dollars rather than a trillion dollars, and engendering what appears to be good will in a people who now have a prideful story of their own independence to tell (not to mention oil, they have oil). Anybody want to give credit?”
And he’s right-is there NO Republican who will say, “I compliment our President on a job well done. He didn’t get us too involved in this, didn’t spend a lot of money, and got rid of a guy who had killed many Americans. Thank you, sir.” Of course not. That means he’s WINNING. And not in the Charlie Sheen way.
Yup, Andrew Breitbart has finally admitted what I always knew. The Tea Party wants a civil war between them and the Far Left. Yeah, a civil war-WITH GUNS. It’s high time we sane people in the middle slapped both that lying motherfucker Breitbart and his compadres on the Far Left. It’s the only way this country won’t end up in several little countries like Germany was before Bismarck came to power.
President Obama’s at his best when he’s on the offensive rather than the defensive. And last night’s jobs speech is a brilliant move on the part of the President. He’s got the GOP trapped by their own agenda, and he’s got the PL trapped by THEIR agenda. They’ve been whining about jobs since the 2010 midterm campaign. And now, I’m sure they’re regretting that move. Because the President has just released the most sensible jobs bill I think anyone has ever released. Just the payroll tax cut alone traps the Republicans in their own tax cut bullshit. And the other parts of the bill trap the PL in THEIR FDR bullshit.
OK, so President Obama isn’t FDR. But-he’s unveiled a program to repair our infrastructure that reminds me very much of the WPA and CCC that FDR created. No, there’s no alphabet soup names to them. But, his proposal to not only modernize this country’s infrastructure but to put the unemployed back to work doing it is classic FDR.
Also, there’s the payroll tax holiday, the $4,000 tax credit to employers who hire the long-term unemployed, the proposal to reform regulations that will facilitate access to capital for entrepreneurs and small business and the increase in tax credits to those employers who hire unemployed veterans. This is classic Republican territory that President Obama’s stomping around in. And it’s a brilliant move. By co-opting such Republican talking points as payroll tax cuts (that even REAGAN wanted and never got) he’s sent the message that he isn’t afraid of the Tea Bullies. He’s taking the fight right to their faces. He’s going to use Republican talking points to beat the shit out of them.
The words “Pass this bill right away” will be haunting the Tea Party if they don’t get out of the way and let the adults talk. I basically see a much worse version of the hostility that faced the TP during those town hall meetings they had during the August recess. The President is going to get this bill passed, and if he has to use the American people to bully the Tea Party in order to do it, then he will. This is another brilliant move on the part of the President.
Edited to add something I had missed. But-this is not just brilliant, it’s FUCKING BRILLIANT: The American Jobs Act is based on ideas supported by both Democrats and Republicans, and is fully paid for by closing corporate tax loopholes and by asking the wealthiest Americans to pay their fair share. It would have an immediate impact on job and economic growth, but Congress has to act now.
He’s got the GOP by the nuts on this one. If they don’t pass this jobs bill, there will be unlimited hostility towards them-even MORE than there is now with their approval ratings at 19%. If they PASS the bill, there goes tax cuts for the wealthy. A tactical move that Machiavelli would have approved of.
And they really think an ignoramus like Perry can beat Obama in November, 2012? Bitch, PLEASE.
